"Jesus always used stories and illustrations like these when speaking to the crowds. In fact, he never spoke to them without using such parables."
- Matthew 13:34 (NLT)
Debunking the Myths
MYTH #1
You have to be a Shakespearean-trained actor to be on the Drama Crew.
False
We have some great actors and we’ll take you if you’re Laurence Olivier. But we also have a lot of people who are willing to take direction and try almost anything.
MYTH #2
You have to be a celebrated artist to be on the Design Crew.
False
Similar to answer number one. True, we have talented artists and designers. We also have a lot of people willing to take direction, paint in the lines, cut and tape things, you get the idea.
MYTH #3
You have to be a computer geek to be on the Technical Crew.
False
You don’t have to be, but it certainly helps.
MYTH #4
The Creative Arts Ministry has all the members it needs.
False
We are always open to new members and entertaining possibilities.
OUR PURPOSE
Our primary mission is to create dynamic worship services that help people connect to God.
We’re so excited about God’s story, we will use just about anything to tell it —
art, drama, comedy, dance, movies, games, heavy machinery —
anything’s possible.
If you’re interested in becoming part of this ministry, pick up a member’s packet from the church office.
Dream BIG!
OUR STRUCTURE
The Creative Arts Ministry is directed by Shelli Mosteller, Creative Arts Minister. The team is led by the Leadership Team (catch that creative title), which includes representatives from all crews.
DESIGN CREW -
Consists of artists, designers, craftsmen, and other “hands-on” people. Responsible for designing and building sets, backdrops, props, costumes, interactive elements and anything else too bizarre to fit in one of the aforementioned categories.
TECHNICAL CREW -
Consists of videographers, video editors, photographers and lighting designers/technicians. Includes Media Crew, who design and run presentations for weekend services, using Media Shout and PowerPoint.
DRAMA CREW -
Consists of actors and assistant directors who perform both live and videotaped sketches and other seemingly random but, in reality, well-planned diversions.
The Creative Arts Ministry is almost always in need of the following supplies:
Mini-DV tapes
DVD-Rs (+ or -)
CD-Rs
CD/DVD sleeves
Highlighters
Black ½” binders
Gift cards for: iTunes, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot
Random costumes and wigs
